D ay 7 Lexington to Troutville 45 miles

Nice sunny morning as we woke up in warmshowers hoast Rabecca,s country farm, herself and husband Lee had looked after us very well, cold bear, hot showers, dinner, soft beds and Southern home made grits for breakfast, fantastic. The first 11 miles was through winding country roads with a river running beside us and loads of butterflies everywhere.

This tranquility was then broken as our route brought us onto a road that ran parallel to a major highway, lots of bumps until we finally headed for Troutsville along a 10 mile road that zigzaged a railroad track. We arrived in Troutville where Randy a local restaurent owner gave us a lift to the hotel area that was 5 miles up the road from our route, what a nice man

  1. never really got the whole grits thing

  2. I see that your education re. consumption of grits continues. We’ll have you speaking in with a southern drawl before you get out of Virginia. I expect to see in in Virginia Tech jerseys during the next couple of days. Looks like you will hit Christiansburg just ahead of graduation day in Blackburg. Enjoy the hills.

  3. Was the “cold bear” grizzly?
